Once a year, Orange County gets a little bit “country” with the arrival of the OC Fair. In the midst of fried cookie dough, lobster on a stick and hypnotist shows lies the most coveted trophy in all of sport. Competitors travel thousands of miles and train endlessly for this one event. This is the true story of this years National Dodgeball Championship.
Ok, so people don’t really travel for this event and it might not be the highest form of sport (definitely second highest) but this has to be one of the most entertaining events of all time. And as it would be, Scott Burris, our favorite ACD & OC Fair enthusiast, happened to compete in this glorious event. This year, the nations top dodgeball teams gathered in eclectic costumes to compete for the famed “Golden Dodgeball” trophy.
Scott helped lead his team, “The Magnum P.I.’s,” to the semifinals. They climbed their way up the ranks, balling out and dodging like you’ve never seen someone dodge before. Unfortunately, after a tough fight they proved no match for the heavily favored, “Batman and Friends”. You can be sure the training has already started for the Magnum P.I.’s as they continue their quest to bring that trophy home next year.
