Meet Billy Derham – HEILBrice’s Newest Account Supervisor

How long have you been working in this industry and how did you get started?

I’ve worked in this industry for seven years now. My fascination with advertising began at a young age when my younger brother appeared in dozens of TV commercials, including national spots for Nike and Pepsi. While tagging along to casting calls and shoots, I knew I wanted to be part of this exciting industry.

Give us an overview of your career in advertising.

I began my career at HEILBrice working on several supermarket accounts including Ralphs, Fry’s, Penn Traffic and Pathmark, which introduced me to the fast paced world of retail. I also had the opportunity to work with the LA Clippers and LA INC. I then moved to Los Angeles to work at Dailey & Associates for four years, working on travel and tourism accounts (Legoland California and Florida theme parks), casual dining (California Pizza Kitchen), corporate reputation (Weyerhaeuser), and direct response (FreeScore.com and P90X). Recently I crossed the “Orange Curtain” and came home to work with the great group at HEILBrice once again! This time working with A&P Supermarkets, along with a number of other exciting clients.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love being presented with a challenging problem, then working with a smart and talented team to come up with a unique and effective solution. Whether it’s a huge campaign or a small effort, in each challenge there’s an opportunity to grow something from concept to execution.

What are your hobbies?

I’m a huge sports fan. Whether it’s my beloved hometown Angels, Ducks and Clippers or the Notre Dame Fightin’ Irish, I love watching and playing all sports. I also enjoy spending time with my amazing wife Amber, snowboarding, traveling and photography.
